more than 160 branches since January, it said in a Thursday (May 14) <a href=\"https:\/\/media.chase.com\/news\/jpmc-18-new-branches\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Each new Chase branch features full-service banking, extended ATM access, and relationship bankers and financial experts who can help families and small businesses with day-to-day needs and longer-term financial goals. The branches also complement Chase\u2019s digital tools, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy expanding our physical footprint, we\u2019re ensuring more customers can access the banking services and financial guidance they need \u2014 how, when and where they want,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/thomaswhorne\">Tom Horne<\/a>, head of branch banking at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpmorganchase.com\/\">JPMorganChase<\/a>, said in the release.<\/p>\n<p>The new branch openings and renovation mark a continuation of a multibillion-dollar investment in its <a href=\"https:\/\/media.chase.com\/news\/chase-makes-multi-billion-dollar-investment-in-its-branch-network\">branch network<\/a> that Chase announced in February 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Chase said at the time that it planned to open more than 500 new branches, renovate 1,700 locations and hire 3,500 employees over a three-year period ending in 2027.<\/p><div id=\"pymnt-2852502954\" class=\"pymnt-content pymnt-entity-placement\" style=\"margin-top: 50px;\"><p style=\"text-align:center\">Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p><script async type=\"text\/javascript\" id=\"dianomi_context_script\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dianomi.com\/js\/contextfeed.js\"><\/script> \r\n<div class=\"dianomi_context\" data-dianomi-context-id=\"4329\"><\/div><\/div>\n<p>The bank said those locations would join the more than 650 branches it added over the previous five years, meaning that when the current expansion is complete, it will have added more than 1,150 branches between 2018 and 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Chase said that with the new branches, it would enter new markets and expand its presence in its existing markets.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Chase said it plans to open 160 new <a href=\"https:\/\/media.chase.com\/news\/chase-to-open-more-than-160-branches-in-over-30-states-in-2026\">branches<\/a> and renovate nearly 600 locations this year.<\/p>\n<p>In its Thursday press release, the bank said: \u201cChase operates the largest branch network in the United States and is the only bank with branches in all lower 48 states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was reported in April that the number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/banking\/2026\/bank-branch-closures-tick-up-as-lenders-merge\/\">bank branch<\/a> closures has been increasing due to banks slashing costs as they deal with competition from nonbanks and digital-only financial institutions. That report said 15% of all U.S. branch locations closed between 2015 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>However, other banks are expanding their brick-and-mortar presence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.truist.com\/\">Truist<\/a> announced in August that it was set to open 100 new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/banking\/2025\/truist-opening-100-new-branches-as-it-targets-affluent-clients\/\">branches<\/a> and renovate 300 more as part of an effort to cultivate relationships with affluent customers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/about.bankofamerica.com\/en\">Bank of America<\/a> said in May 2025 that it plans to open 150 new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/banking\/2025\/bank-of-america-plans-150-new-branches-by-2028\/\">branches<\/a> by the end of 2027.
